Stage Curtains - Synthetic Velour

Synthetic velour is made of polyester filaments instead of cotton.  This offers increased tear resistance and inherent flame retardance (which will not wash out like cotton).  Synthetic Velour has a bit of a "sheen" in the finish.  You can find detailed specifications at the bottom of this page.

Another popular option is Encore Synthetic Velour, which is a brushed fabric instead of woven.

We also have traditional 100% Cotton Velour.

Flame Resistance

Synthetic fabric is inherently flame retardant, which will NOT wash out if cleaned.  Most states require drapery to include a burn test strip, and be tagged with manufacture date and treatment method.

Manufactured to meet or exceed:

  • NFPA 701 Small Scale
  • NFPA 701 Test Method #1
  • NFPA 260A/UFAC Class 1 (except Royale/Imperial)
  • California Title 19 (except Prestige)
  • California F-59901 (except Royale/Imperial)
  • Canada CAN/ULS-S109-03

Flame Resistance is permanent for the life of the fabric.  However, atmospheric conditions can alter the effectiveness of the flame resistance, annual testing for flame resistance is recommended.
