Fresh Scab

Fresh Scab allows artists to create raised blood effects that provide realism to simulated injuries through its beloved jelly-like consistency.  The deep red-brown color replicates dense oxidized blood, most often seen in aged wounds and dried bloods.

This blood formula remains flexible while maintaining the ability to stay in place allowing for long lasting performance and a realistic finish.  The grotesque nature of this product makes it an essential for any Halloween enthusiast, SFX, trauma simulation, or film & television makeup artist.  Available in a wide range of convenient sizes.

There are a myriad of ways you can use Fresh Scab to simulate injuries.  A stainless steel spatula can be an ideal tool for removing it from the container and applying.

Create raised blood texture by using a stipple sponge to blot specks of blood onto the face or body.  For brutal special effects textures, stipple Fresh Scab onto injuries with Ben Nye's Texture Brushes.  To age any prosthetic wound, fill the depths of the simulated injury with Fresh Scab to provide an oxidized effect.  You can create a scabbed split in the bridge of the nose, or in an eyebrow with a precise application of Fresh Scab with a Flat Brush (FB) or Round Point (RS) Brush.

Wash off the skin and props with warm, soapy water.

The depth and tone of Fresh Scab is complemented by the creme colors available in Ben Nye's Ultimate FX Palette.  Create a realistic spectrum of aged bruises and abrasions fit for the stage and camera.  For a range of fluidity, pair the Fresh Scab with Ben Nye's corn-syrup based Dark Blood.
