eBay Main Street Building

In less than a year this dirt lot was transformed into a state-of-the-art meeting space. We provided all theatrical lighting (plus some architectural), building architectural lighting control, and integrated our system with the building AMX system.

Hidden around the building is a total of 10x One-Port Gateways which distribute the DMX and offer multiple DMX insert points. For the more savvy user, several RJ45 jacks provide direct sACN/RDM access.

eBay Main Street Building - Square Truss

Four of these square trusses were installed over the main floor. The 8x D60 Studio HD fixtures act as architectural lights, while the 3x S4LED Series2 Lustr fixtures are for stage use.

Since the D60 house lights are full color mixing, eBay has different color-temperature presets for day/night use, and can even change fixture colors during an event.

eBay Main Street Building - Paradigm Touchscreen

A sampling of the screens which allows eBay's in-house tech team to handle the lighting for most of their events. More than a dozen insert points allow this PoE touchscreen to be controlled from almost anywhere in the building with a 25' cable.
Lights can be individually controlled, and authorized users with a passcode can record presets.

SF Tech - Stage

In space-constricted San Francisco this company opted for a multi-purpose dining/meeting room. With multiple offices, they video-conference meetings and needed a lighting package to match their top-level broadcast gear.

Musson installed rigging points, hung the truss, installed the fixtures, and tied everything to a Mosaic Show Control system. We also provided end-user training on their new lighting system and were on-hand for the first few events to answer any last-minute questions.

SF Tech - Truss

San Jose Shark Tank (aka SAP Center)

We've supplied the Shark Tank with rigging and followspot expertise for decades, recently we've also provide assistance with their architectual LED programming. In addition to the 3kW Gladiator followspots shown here, we also service the rigging which raises and lowers the famous Shark Head that players skate out of.

Presidio TV Studio - Green Screen

This studio is located at the Presidio in San Francisco. We supplied the LED lighting system, drapery/track, and strut lighting grid.

Control is provided by a Cognito console (with full color temperature/tint control). A Preset 10 button station serves as an alternate one-click control option.

Presidio TV Studio - Cameras

The windows in this studio are clear (no tint); however the ARRI L7-DT LED Fresnels are able to keep the talent brightly lit with little heat. Variable color temperature and tint control keeps the set lit correctly no matter if it's a sunny day, or one of the foggy ones.

One Market - Custom Banner Rigging

We don't just work in theatres! One of our frequent customers contacted us about a unique rigging project they needed a solution for, specifically hanging 100' high white banners in the open atrium of a skyscraper in downtown San Francisco.

One Market - Vertical Banners

The challenging part of this job was the lack of access to the ceiling, in order to install the rigging and banners we had to install an 8-story temporary scaffolding. Then once the scaffolding was removed special rigging was required in order to unroll the banners (the scaffolding blocked their deployment).

Netflix - Auditorium

Netflix - House Lights

One of the most intricate parts of the lighting for this job was not the stage lighting, but the LED house light system. We used ETC's ArcSystem, which not only provides superior dimming, but has individual control of every single house light.

Stanford Bing Concert Hall - LED Color Wash

A small part of the beautiful Bing Concert Hall at Stanford University. Musson provided theatrical lighting and architectural lighting control. This wall is lit by D40 Vivid's, and is just a part of the lighting package.

An ETC Eos console provides control during performances. Day-to-day operation is controlled by an extensive architectural network with building sensors, timed events, and local control override.

Small Room - Lush Purple Wash

There's a reason ETC's x7 LED fixtures are industry standard, just try getting this lush shade of purple from one of the competing RGB fixtures.

This small campus room is available to student groups for various activities ranging from dance recitals to theatrical productions.

They may not have a dedicated white LED, but ETC x7 fixtures still produce a beautiful white light (shown here accented with a rose tint from the back and down lights).

This lighting system consists of 6x D40 Lustr's (front light) and 7x D40 Vivid's (back/down light). Control is provided by an Element console.

One of the strict requirements for this venue was matching the new equipment to the existing color scheme. In addition to the white fixtures and cabling, we tracked down a specific shade of brown that blended the light pipes to the existing wood stain.

Lafayette-Orinda Presbyterian - Stage Wash

As part of a seismic upgrade, the church decided to update their aging lighting system. While a few tungsten fixtures are still in use, the church added 28x Source Four LED s2 Tungsten, and 12x D60 Studio HD fixtures.

Showing 2 of the 4 primary LED lighting battens. The initial plans called for tungsten lights and movable battens. However we suggested switching to LEDs would eliminate the need for movable battens, and allow for color-changing stage washes.

The Source Four LED s2 Tungsten doesn't have the color range of the Lustr version, but it can still saturate a stage with color when needed, as this photo shows. LOPC choose the Tungsten version since 90% of their events are white light, and the extra output over the Lustr was desired.

Lafayette-Orinda Presbyterian - Amber Stage Wash

Showing the opposite end of the usable color range the Source Four LED s2 Tungsten is capable of. The Tungsten version isn't intended for full-color mixing, but provides a limited gamut when your main use is white light.

Canyon Creek Presbyterian - LEDs Only

Stage being lit by LED power only. 5x ColorSource Spot provide the front light, 5x D40 Vivid fixtures are for backlight, and 2x ColorSource PAR provide accent uplighting on walls.

Centerville Presbyterian - Fremont

This was our first all LED install (Fall 2012) and features an impressive list of ETC gear. Control is provided by either a DMX console or the Paradigm architectural system.

The main stage area is lit with a combination of 12x S4LED's and 4x D40 Lustr's. The choir and back wall have 14x D40 Vivid and 2x Vivid-R 42" fixtures, 2x D40 Lustr fixtures provide the cross highlight.

Centerville Presbyterian - Pink Wash

To be clear this isn't one of Centerville's normal lighting presets. During one of our training sessions their tech crew started brainstorming about ways to use the new LEDs.

One of the results was this pre-service wash, created for both Valentine's Day and Breast Cancer awareness month.

Three Stages at Folsom Lake College - Stage Two (City Studio Theater)

This black box theater seats up to 200 people and is part of the Harris Center at Folsom Lake College. We provided the conventional fixture and accessory package for both this space and Stage One.

Mills High School - Theater

Part of a major renovation at several San Mateo UHSD campuses, this theater can seat up to 780. We provided lighting and drapery services for all the district's theaters.

Sacred Heart Academy

In addition to the more traditional theater spaces, we've also supplied lighting expertise for a range of school auditoriums and lecture halls.

This installation included theatrical lighting to keep the stage area brightly lit with the full height windows.

Business Auditorium - Movers

The initial lighting package for this venue included the row of Source Four Revolution fixtures pictured here. After a couple of years, this university's Graduate School of Business ran some numbers and made the switch to an all LED system.

We haven't snapped a picture of the new system yet, but supplied the lighting and programming for it.

The dimming system at Silver Creek consists of several dozen ETC SmartBar dimmers distributed evenly throughout the venue. An economical alternative to having a single dimmer rack located offstage, this setup reduces electrical installation costs by putting the dimmers where the fixtures are.

Cubberley Theatre - Palo Alto

Control booth at Palo Alto's Cubberley Community Theatre. It's possible to adjust both the sound and lighting systems from this single location.

In addition to the lighting and sound consoles, Musson installed a new dimmer rack backstage.

Three Stages at Folsom Lake College - Stage One

This is the featured venue at the Three Stages complex and can seat up to 850 people. The theatrical lighting package was supplied by Musson, along with lighting for the Stage Two Black Box Theater.

Menlo-Atherton Performing Arts Center

This 492 seat theatre not only has a cutting edge design, but equipment to match it. We supplied complete lighting, drapery, and rigging packages for this space along with a top of the line surround sound system.

Our custom fabrication shop also supplied the custom red hardwall that surrounds the main curtain.

Herbst Theatre - Main Drape

As part of a major renovation project, Musson was selected to replace the historic main drape and valance at the Herbst Theatre, part of the War Memorial PAC in San Francisco.

This was no standard drape and had many custom requirements, including gold frills on the edges and a specific swooping design for the valance.

Mills High School - Theater

Part of a major renovation at several San Mateo UHSD campuses, this theater can seat up to 780. We provided lighting and drapery services for all the district's theaters.

Oregon Shakespeare Festival - Bowmer Theatre

We've supplied OSF with more gear than we can remember. One of the recent purchases were two Robert Juliat Lucy 1.2kW followspots, shown here shortly after delivery to the 601 seat Bowmer theatre.

San Mateo Performing Arts Center

Part of the same renovation as the Mills HS Theater, this PAC can seat 1,540.

We supplied complete drapery and lighting services for this space and the district's other theater.

Stanford Bing Concert Hall - LED Color Wash

One of the network racks we installed at Bing Concert Hall. All these cables are for the Net3 lighting network, completely separate from the buildings regular computer network.

This network sends DMX to gateways and integrates the various sensors, touchscreens, and button stations. Musson was responsible for programming and integrating all the architectural lighting control.

ETC's David Hilton demonstrating how the LED fixtures are cool to the touch. Part of the city's cost-benefit analysis included electric savings, which they estimated at $17,000 per year.

Sunnyvale - Emerald City

Part of this presentation included an iPad running iRFR on the stage. Apparently someone wanted to simulate the Emerald City from Wizard of Oz.

Cyc is lit by 20x Vivid-R 11" fixtures. A combo of 24x D40 Vivid and 12x D60 Vivid fixtures provide the side color wash.

Sunnyvale - Emerald City Side

Side view of the green wash from the previous picture. If you look at the top of the picture you'll see the stage work lights are actually on, they're just overpowered by the LEDs.

Also on the left you can barely see one of the plastic transparency gobos the tech staff printed up and used in a FoH S4LED.

Sunnyvale - First Electric

View of the first electric and Source 4 LED fixtures. Traditional tungsten fixtures this close can add uncomfortable heat to the stage, these LEDs provide the brightness with none of the heat.

Sunnyvale - Booth View

Sunnyvale - Control Console

The Ion console which controls the lighting system. Control is distributed over a Net3 network with a dedicated iPad running the iRFR application.

In total this system includes 20x Vivid-R 11" (cyc), 24x D40 Vivid and 12x D60 Vivid (side wash), 15x D60 Vivid (down light), 58x S4LED (front wash, specials), 4x VL1100TS, and 6x MAC 301.

Canyon Creek Presbyterian - LEDs Only

Stage being lit by LED power only. 5x ColorSource Spot provide the front light, 5x D40 Vivid fixtures are for backlight, and 2x ColorSource PAR provide accent uplighting on walls.

Canyon Creek Presbyterian - Mixed Lighting Rig

View showing both LED and tungsten stage lights at full, this type of mixed-rig is an economical stepping stone for existing churches. We used wireless DMX since no DMX outlets existing at the lighting positions.

This specific package consisted of 5x ColorSource Spot, 2x ColorSource PAR, and 1x Element console (to replace their old Express console). Canyon Creek already owned 5x D40 Vivid fixtures from our initial LED upgrade.

Canyon Creek Presbyterian - Element Control Console

View from the tech booth lighting position. We supplied both the Element console, and on-site programming services to create the magic sheet on the left screen. Both monitors are touchscreens and allow weekly volunteers to easily change colors with no command line experience.

Centerville Presbyterian - Fremont

This was our first all LED install (Fall 2012) and features an impressive list of ETC gear. Control is provided by either a DMX console or the Paradigm architectural system.

The main stage area is lit with a combination of 12x S4LED's and 4x D40 Lustr's. The choir and back wall have 14x D40 Vivid and 2x Vivid-R 42" fixtures, 2x D40 Lustr fixtures provide the cross highlight.

Centerville Presbyterian - Sermon Wash

One of the sermon lighting presets combined with a back color wash. Presets were designed to be operated either individually, or in 'pile-on' mode for endless creative possibilities.

Centerville Presbyterian - Pink Wash

To be clear this isn't one of Centerville's normal lighting presets. During one of our training sessions their tech crew started brainstorming about ways to use the new LEDs.

One of the results was this pre-service wash, created for both Valentine's Day and Breast Cancer awareness month.

Lafayette-Orinda Presbyterian - Stage Wash

As part of a seismic upgrade, the church decided to update their aging lighting system. While a few tungsten fixtures are still in use, the church added 28x Source Four LED s2 Tungsten, and 12x D60 Studio HD fixtures.

Lafayette-Orinda Presbyterian - Beams

Showing 2 of the 4 primary LED lighting battens. The initial plans called for tungsten lights and movable battens. However we suggested switching to LEDs would eliminate the need for movable battens, and allow for color-changing stage washes.

The Source Four LED s2 Tungsten doesn't have the color range of the Lustr version, but it can still saturate a stage with color when needed, as this photo shows. LOPC choose the Tungsten version since 90% of their events are white light, and the extra output over the Lustr was desired.

Lafayette-Orinda Presbyterian - Amber Stage Wash

Showing the opposite end of the usable color range the Source Four LED s2 Tungsten is capable of. The Tungsten version isn't intended for full-color mixing, but provides a limited gamut when your main use is white light.
